It began with a refund that took eleven days.
One of us ran a small ceramics shop on the side. A customer asked for a refund on a chipped mug, and the money disappeared into a processor's black box for almost two weeks. No status, no answer, just a support queue and a shrug. The mug cost twenty-six dollars. The trust it cost was worth far more.
The deeper we looked, the clearer it got: the tools built for billion-dollar marketplaces simply weren't built for everyone else. Real businesses were stitching together five vendors, reading fee schedules like legal contracts, and still guessing when they'd get paid. The complexity wasn't a law of nature. It was a choice nobody had bothered to unmake.
Lumopay is our attempt to unmake it. We took the hardest parts of becoming a payment facilitator — onboarding, verification, compliance, settlement — and folded them behind a calm, branded surface that takes about five minutes to set up.
